The 2014 FIFA World Cup is only one month away. More and more nations are revealing the final name list of their squad. Yesterday England coach Ray Hodgson announced the 23 players selected for the tournament in Brazil.
Among candidates picked earlier, three have been left out. They are Michael Carrick, Andy Carroll and Kyle Walker. Carrick missed the chance because he performed poorly in Manchester United in this season. He once rejected the standby list for UEFA EURO 2012 however he accepted to be in standby list for this World Cup this time. Carroll, as a striker in Ham United, suffered from injury the whole season and can only be put in standby list. His position is filled by Rickie Lambert whose 14 goals in the season certainly impressed Hodgson. Similarly the Tottenham Hotspur defender Walker didn’t make it because of his pelvic injury.
